The Camp Verde High School wrestlers added to the school’s wrestling tradition Feb. 8 and 9, winning their fifth state championship title while breaking team and state records.
The Cowboys dethroned reigning state champion St. Johns while winning the 2013 Division IV State Wrestling Tournament at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, their fifth state title since 2004.
The Cowboys also came home with five individual state champions and two state runners-up. They also broke several schools records and a state record. The team had 369 pins for the season through the state tournament, breaking the state record of 366 set by Maricopa.
