Cowboys girls, boys spoil Scorpions’ senior night

Published:

Both Camp Verde High School basketball teams ended the regular season with a bang.

The Cowboys girls and boys ended their 2012-2013 regular season by crushing their cross-valley divisional rivals, the Sedona Red Rock High School Scorpions, on their own home court on the Scorpions’ Senior Night, Friday, Feb. 1. With a full loud crowd, the Cowboys girls beat the Scorpions 71-49 before the boys beat the Scorpions 70-59.

“These girls are just a great group of kids. They are nice kids, they work hard, I can depend on them, they get along,” Cowboys Girls Head Coach Mark Showers said. “It’s not like they are the best of buddies on campus, but they support each other. I’m very proud of this group, and that’s what I told them in there in the locker room. They came to play and that was very evident.”

Cowboys senior Amanda Showers had 32 points in the game, beating her personal best of 28 points in a single game. Senior Donnie Buss had 15 points followed by sophomore Rayana Chatter with 12 points.
