Young wrestlers show promise

The Camp Verde Middle School wrestlers have proven to be just as commanding on the mat as their high school counterparts, prevailing in every match and showing invincible promise for the future of Camp Verde High School Wrestling.

The Cowboys most recently won the Yavapai County Regional Tournament on Jan. 12, finishing with 142 total team points while Chino Valley finished second with 91 points. This win makes the middle school Cowboys three-time regional champions.

“We are a young team, we have a lot of first-year wrestlers,” Steve Pike, one of the middle school head coaches, said. “And yet, several kids have placed.”
