Cowboys finish 2nd at Moon Valley invite

The Camp Verde wrestlers competed impressively against much bigger schools over the winter break.

The Cowboys placed second among some of the strongest teams from around the state, including 5A-sized schools, at the Moon Valley Invitational on Dec. 21 and 22, at Moon Valley High School in Phoenix.

Considered one of the top three wrestling tournaments in Arizona, the Moon Valley Invitational hosted 32 schools. Camp Verde High School placed second with 530 total points. Corona del Sol from Tempe placed first with 583 points. Dobson from Mesa came in third with 472 points while Coconino from Flagstaff, Desert Vista from Phoenix and Snowflake placed fourth, fifth and sixth with scores of 458, 454 and 444, respectively.
