Yavapai County honors local nonprofit

Published:

Good works deserve recognition, and Cornucopia Community Advocates recently received an award for just that from the Yavapai County Community Foundation.

The foundation recently named the nonprofit, based in the Village of Oak Creek, as its Community Benefactor in the foundation’s 2012 Joy of Giving awards, which pays tribute to the exceptional contributions of local people and organizations to the betterment of the county.

The honor Cornucopia received included a $1,000 monetary award, which the organization’s founders Harvey and Julie Grady passed along to the Verde Food Council, one of the many area programs Cornucopia supports.

“Winning the award helps us inform the community of emergent community needs. We work with other organization to create resources that address that need. What it takes is neighbor helping neighbor and friend helping friend,” Harvey Grady said.
