Vandals hit Jerome sewer plant

Published:

Someone broke into the Jerome Wastewater Treatment Plant sometime between Friday night, Oct. 26, and Saturday morning, Oct. 27, vandalizing the building and causing several thousand dollars worth of damage.

“Windows were broken; pipes were crushed,” Jerome Town Manager Candace Gallagher said. “There was a hole in the wall.”

Gallagher said she was still waiting on an assessment, but it appeared the damages were in the $15,000 to $20,000 range.

There was damage to the fencing, electrical panels and other equipment, a storage cabinet, a shed, piping, along with damage to the chlorination and dechlorination equipment.

A worker at the plant found the vandalism when showing up to start the day.
