The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors last week set the primary and secondary tax rates for several special districts and towns throughout the county, including fire, school and sanitary districts.
The adoption of the rates authorizes the county treasurer’s office to collect those funds.
The new tax rates are determined by the districts and collected by the county for the benefit of the districts and are effective for the 2012-2013 fiscal budget year, which began July 1.
“The board didn’t make any changes,” said Brenda Peterson with the Yavapai County Administrator’s office.
Typically, the only time things get changed is when one of the districts looks back over the books and finds a mistake, Peterson said.
“So far, everything’s good,” Peterson said.
In most cases, local tax rates will see an increase this fiscal year.
According to the tax schedule provided by Yavapai County, the general county property tax will be just under $1.65 per $100 of property valuation, a 15 percent increase that is expected to bring in nearly $40 million overall, if everyone paid their taxes.
