Primary puts this election season’s finish line in sight

Published:

Here we are in the middle of the election season when campaigning usually starts to get nasty.

Tuesday, Aug. 28, Arizona voters decided which of the candidates from their party to send into the ring for the general election.

I sometimes feel as if election season never ends.

Between the presidential and congressional elections, state elections, county elections and local elections, residents don’t receive much reprieve from the inundation of information and mudslinging from both sides.

If you’ve made it this far and aren’t completely confused as to who stands for what and which politician is telling you the truth, there is good and bad news.

The good news is there is only two months left.

The bad news is it’s only going to get worse as the playing field narrows and those left fight tooth and nail to win the job of putting our country on the “right track.” Oh yeah, and we get to do this again in a couple of years.

Wouldn’t it be nice if all we received were the facts and not the bad-mouthing, twisted truths and distractions from the real issues?

It’s hard to determine who to believe, who is stretching the truth and who might actually act as he or she preaches once they take office.

Unfortunately, after attending forums the last few weeks, I’m not holding my breath when it comes to state and federal elections.

It’s no wonder people lose faith in the system altogether and stop paying attention. It’s frustrating.

However, it’s important for us to stay strong and weather the political storm to participate in the democratic process, even if it seems hopeless.

Election results will be posted after our newspaper goes to press, so we will bring you the results of races pertaining to your districts via our website, journalaz.com.

Log on and find out who continues to the next election.
