Cottonwood’s canines face relocation of their bark park after noise complaints from neighbors.
Jeanine Allen lives right next to the dog park and said she can smell it and hear talking and barking.
“I love dogs, but I do not want a dog park 73 feet from my home,” she said.
Allen addressed the Cottonwood City Council during a work session Aug. 14 aimed at finding a solution to the problem.
At the end of the presentation, council asked city staff to come back with more information on three proposed relocation options and the cost of building a sound barrier instead.
Councilman Tim Elinski said seeing the dog park leave Riverfront Park would be disappointing because it draws people to that area of the city.
However, according to the council agenda communication documents, where the dog park is currently located is planned for future development into soccer fields.
Cottonwood City Manager Doug Bartosh said the city received 26 complaints in two years about the dog park.
“We have done as much as I think we can,” Bartosh said.
