The laces are tied, the pads are on, and the helmets are polished. The boys of fall are ready for a new season on the gridiron.
Camp Verde High School football had a forceful team last season. The Cowboys ended their season in the quarterfinals of the state championship with a 9-3 record [8-2 regular season].
“We should have gone deeper, but key injuries ended it for us there,” CVHS football Head Coach Luke Steege said.
Yet, what made the team so strong was the large number of starting seniors. Those 21 seniors are now gone, and it is up to the young players to step up in their place.
“Expect us to be in a rebuilding year,” Steege said.
There will be many new faces on the field, and the inexperienced players will face another tough schedule.
