ADOT repaves I-17 this week

Published:

Paving and guardrail work on Interstate 17 from State Route 179 to Camp Verde continues next week

Crews will continue paving and guardrail replacement next week on Interstate 17 between Middle Verde Road in Camp Verde and State Route 179 (Sedona turnoff), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Drivers can expect alternating lane restrictions in both directions, from 7 p.m. to noon, Sunday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 24.

In addition to the paving work on I-17, crews will be installing vehicle counters on southbound I-17 from 7 p.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 20 through Wednesday, Aug. 22.  The vehicle counters will assist ADOT in keeping accurate traffic counts on the interstate.

Minimal delays are expected and drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time to reach their destinations.

The $4.2 million improvement project includes the removal of a layer of the existing pavement, repaving the roadway, guardrail replacement and bridge repair. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
