Camp Verde only valley town where tax collection is down

Published:

With the exception of Camp Verde, communities in the Verde Valley generated more tax revenue collected by the state in fiscal year 2011-2012 than they did in fiscal year 2010-2011.

Sedona no longer has the state collect tax revenue and is not included in the data.

The fiscal year ended June 30 and tax data was collected across economic sectors ranging from retail sales and construction to real estate transactions and insurance.

The numbers were released last month by the Arizona Department of Revenue’s Office of Economic Research and Analysis.

Up the mountain in Jerome, the town generated $657,146 in tax revenue, up from $611,734 the previous year.

While revenue increases varied month to month compared with the previous year across retail sales, and restaurant and bar patronage the numbers ended up higher in both categories for 2011-2012.
