U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar [R-District 1] and District 4 candidate Ron Gould came out guns blaring accusing each other of dishonesty and the inability to represent the people.
The two attended a League of Women Voters of Sedona-Verde Valley candidate forum Saturday, Aug. 11, in Cottonwood. While Gosar currently represents District 1, he moved from his home in Flagstaff after redistricting to run as a candidate in District 4.
When Gould asked him why he would leave his home in Flagstaff to rent a home in Prescott, Gosar said the redistricting committee cut his district in half and the people placed in District 4 asked him to continue representing him.
However, Gosar’s town of residence on the Secretary of State’s primary election form is listed as Florence, which is southeast of Gilbert and at the tip of District 4.
Gould, of Lake Havasu, Gosar and Rick Murphy, of Lake Havasu City, face off in the Republican primary. Write-in Richard Grayson, of Apache Junction, Democrats Johnnie Robertson, of Florence, and Mikel Weisser, of Golden Valley, and Libertarian Joe Pamelia, of Prescott, also vie for the seat in U.S. House of Representatives.
