The Mingus Union High School volleyball team just missed the playoffs last season for the first time in a few years, but it returns with a strong, more athletic team with its eye on the state championship.
“We are going to do really good this year,” said senior captain and setter Delaney Scanlan. “Without a doubt.”
The Marauders went 10-7 last season with a tough schedule. With the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s redistricting that went into place last year, MUHS volleyball played teams that were in a section higher than them. That section had the top 10 teams in the division.
“We had to play Prescott High School and Sedona [Red Rock] High School both twice last season,” Head Coach Brian Herman said. “They are both really good, but we’re ready to win this year.”
The team will play Prescott and Sedona only once this season, but the schedule will be just as tough.
