Gymnast’s skills edge her to Olympics

??Almost every television in restaurants, gyms, stores and homes are turned on to the Olympics Games, especially when gymnastics, undoubtedly one of the most popular of the Olympic events, is on.

So when U.S. gymnast and gold-medal favorite, Jordyn Weiber, missed her shot Sunday night for the all-around final, the world was shocked, especially Cottonwood gymnast Aleonna Sanchez.

“I feel so sad for her,” Sanchez said. “The Olympics really should allow the top three gymnasts to move on to the all-around finals, not just the top two. Jordyn definitely deserved to be there.”

Sanchez, 14, knows all about the hard work, dedication and sacrifice it takes to be a competitive gymnast. She has been one for seven years now. And she is now competing at the highest level any gymnast has ever competed at in the Verde Valley.

Sanchez is now a level eight gymnast.
