Wells earns scholarship for running

Published:

A 2012 Mingus Union High School graduate is heading to college on a full-ride scholarship.

Juan Wells will be attending Central Arizona College in Coolidge this fall on a cross-country scholarship.

“Since Central Arizona College is a junior college, the scholarship will pay for tuition, books, my dorm, food and pretty much everything else for the two years I’m there,” Wells said.

Wells was recruited by Central Arizona College and was offered the scholarship before any other schools had a chance. In two years, if he has a good performance on the cross-country team, Wells will have a chance to go to any university in the country.

“I would like to go to [University of California Los Angeles] or the University of Florida,” Wells said. “But that all depends on how well I do at Central Arizona and if those universities offer me any scholarships.”
