By day, he is a firefighter for the Verde Valley Fire District, but by night and on game days, Spencer Young, 34, is on the field coaching Little League in Camp Verde.
“I’ve coached Little League now for two years here in Camp Verde,” Young said. “I love it.”
This summer, he is coaching the All-Stars in the Majors division which consists of 11- and 12-year-olds.
“I grew up around baseball my whole life, so being able to coach these kids is great for me,” he said.
Young played Little League in Camp Verde when he was younger until he moved to Cottonwood in the fifth grade.
“My dad was a high school varsity baseball coach, so baseball has always been a part of my life,” Young said.
