The quality of the water of the Verde River is in generally good shape, according to a report released earlier this month by the Sierra Club.
The Sierra Club, an organization dedicated to conservation, compiled the report after a five-year study that involved around 200 volunteers who regularly sampled the river’s water at different spots through the Arizona Water Sentinels program.
That program brings together like-minded individuals with a mission “to protect, improve and restore the nation’s waters.”
The water samples, collected between late 2006 and late 2011, focused on measuring levels of E. coli bacteria, arsenic, nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment concentrations. The volunteers also kept records of oxygen levels, pH levels, electrical conductivity and water temperature.
