Every year, legions of Camp Verde children grab their gloves and cap and head out to take the field for Little League.
It’s almost a requirement.
However, one problem has plagued the town’s ball players for years: there just aren’t enough fields.
The Town of Camp Verde hoped to do something about that. Town leaders purchased more than 100 acres of land a few years ago with a goal of providing those fields. Then the economy fell out, and the would-be park land has sat undeveloped ever since.
One local church is hoping to provide some help.
The members of Parkside Community Church are stepping up to the plate with their efforts and their wallets to construct two new fields, a baseball diamond and a soccer field.
