$28 vouchers could save city hundreds

Published:

Cottonwood City Council voted unanimously April 17 to fund vouchers which will allow low-income residents in violation of city codes to dispose of garbage and junk from their homes and yards at no cost.

The city hopes the vouchers will help speed up the code enforcement process and also prevent illegal dumping.

“Our goal is to get more done out in the field and less at the hearing office. We don’t want to fine people for junk,” Cottonwood City Planner Nikki Arbeiter said.
