Jones named to Town Council

Published:

A bit of history was made at the April 18 Camp Verde Town Council meeting when resident Jessie Jones was appointed as the youngest member ever to serve on the council.

Jones, 28, a 2001 Mingus Union High School graduate and 10-year resident of Camp Verde, was picked for the position out of four candidates including former Mayor and Councilwoman Brenda Hauser, recent transplant to Camp Verde Gordon Bradford Gordon and Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce Executive Board Member Gary Thompson.

The council voted 4-2 in favor of putting Jones on the council on a motion made by Councilwoman Robin Whatley, joined by Councilwoman Jackie Baker, Councilman Bruce George and Vice Mayor Bob Kovacovich. Mayor Bob Burnside and Councilwoman Carol German voted against the appointment.
