At the Knights of Columbus Invitational in Phoenix on Saturday, April 14, the Mingus Union High School track and field team was outstanding despite the oddly chilly weather for this time of year.
The Marauders returned to Cottonwood late Saturday night with 11 gold medals hanging from their necks including a girls first-place team finish. Mingus had 24 top-five finishes at Bourgade Catholic High School.
Mingus, which has only three meets left on the 2012 regular season schedule, took first overall in the girls events with 153 points. Youngker High School was a distant second with 114 points while Camp Verde High School was third with 72.5 points.
