Alan “Buck” Buchanan resigned last week from the Camp Verde Town Council to seek another political office.
Buchanan is running as an independent for a spot on the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors representing the newly formed District 2, an area from Black Canyon City to Beaver Creek, Dewey-Humboldt, Cornville and parts of Prescott Valley.
The resignation from the Town Council was required under a state law requiring candidates for another elected office to first give up their old seat.
Buchanan served a relatively short time on the Town Council. Elected in March 2011, Buchanan was officially sworn into office in June.
Buchanan said he regrets not being able to finish serving his four-year term and completing his commitment to Camp Verde voters, but he hopes he’ll be able to still serve residents if he wins the county election in November.
