New paths shorten bicycle routes

Published:

The trip toward 12th Street from Date and Elm streets just got faster, and more scenic, for cyclists.

The city recently created over 600 feet of trail space to connect 10th and 12th Streets, as part of an ongoing effort to make Cottonwood more bikeable.

“This was a specific goal in the [city bicycle] plan to find places where connections could be made in the bicycle network,” said Nikki Arbeiter, Cottonwood city planner and head of the city’s bike committee.

The connector trails will serve commuter cyclists best, but they are part of a larger plan to improve all kinds of cycling opportunities in the city, including recreational.
